The Commons Summer Festival

Zum ersten Mal wollen wir, die Berliner Commons-Community, ein Sommerfest auf dem Allmendekontor des Tempelhofer Feldes austragen. Unser Motto: “Hacker treffen Harker“!

Am 21. Juni vom Nachmittag (ab 14.00 Uhr) bis in den Abend hinein (ca 21.00 Uhr), wollen wir dem Austausch unserer Ideensowie dem Kennenlernen von Menschen und Projekten ein zwangloses Forum geben.

Bereits im Dezember letzten Jahres entstand die Idee eines Commons-Sommerfestes am Tag der Sommersonnenwende. Erste Überlegungen kommen von Frauke H. aus der “Workstation ideenwerkstatt berlin e. V.”, Silke H. (Commonsblog, Jena) und mir (Richard). Dann haben sich andere Dinge dazwischen gedrängt. Das Leben als commoner ist bunt und betriebsam! Und deshalb erfahrt Ihr davon erst jetzt!

“Hacker treffen Harker” ist bewusst gewählt, weil explizit auch technikaffine Gruppen und Menschen eingeladen sind und zum Teil bereits zugesagt haben. Sowohl Mitglieder der “Slow-Tech-Bewegung” (mit Parallelen zur Slow-Food-Bewegung) als auch Mitglieder der Free Software Foundation Europe (FSFE) werden kommen. Aber auch Freifunker und Mitglieder der “Berliner Linux User Group” sollen sich eingeladen fühlen, einen intensiven Tag auf dem Allmendekontor zu verbringen. Ebenso sind jene, die sich mit ihrem Engagement für eine nachhaltige und menschengerechte Ökonomie einsetzen wie Freunde der Commons, der Shareökonomie, der solidarischen Ökonomie, Mitglieder der “Akademie Solidarische Ökonomie” und viele mehr herzlich willkommen. Für die Gartengruppe des Allmendekontors wird dies natürlich ein Heimspiel.

Die Idee ist, am Sa. den 21. Juni 2014, all jene zusammen zu bekommen, die das ganze Jahr über fleißig in Leih- und Schenkläden arbeiten, beim foodsharing mithelfen, an der solidarischen Landwirtschaft teilnehmen, urbane Gärten und Grünflächen in Eigenverantwortung betreuen. Aber auch jene, die man auf den Äckern eher selten sieht, weil sie in Hacklabs und Hackerspaces neue Ideen entwerfen und digitale Konzepte und Werkzeuge herstellen – für uns alle. All jene, die das Internet verteidigen und weiterentwickeln und Software als Commons für uns alle zur Verfügung stellen. Wir meinen, dass all das zusammen gehört. Lasst uns voneinander lernen, Neues spinnen und mögliche Kooperationen ausloten.

In einem kleinen offiziellen Teil, nach Kaffee & Kuchen ab 18.00 soll jede Gruppe etwa 5 min. Zeit bekommen sich einmal vor allen anderen vorzustellen. Die meiste Zeit aber soll zum Hacken und Harken, zum Mappen und Mümmeln sowie zum persönlichen Gespräch da sein.

Ein wenig zu Essen und zu Trinken wird da sein. Aber wir möchten dich bitten, auch selber mitzubringen was du magst. Schau dazu am besten ins dudle! Denk daran, dass es Abends sehr frisch auf dem Tempelhoferfeld werden kann, Pullover und lange Hose werden dich warm halten. Wer noch nicht da war: es gibt große überdachte Terrasse, so das man sich gut im Schatten aufhalten kann.

Bitte tragt Euch ins dudle ein, damit ich einen Überblick bekomme, wer aus welchen communities dabei ist und wer was mitbringt. Dieses Fest ist eher graswurzelmäßig ;-) organisiert, wer Fragen zur Kinderbetreuung etc. hat, kann mir diese an ‘sommerfest @dieweltdercommons.de’ stellen.

The Commons Summer Festival

We, the Berlin Commons community, would like to hold for the first time a summer festival at the Allmendekontor [3] (“Office For Community Spaces”) on Tempelhofer Feld [1]. Our motto: “Hackers meet Common Backers” (“Hacker treffen Harker”)!

On Saturday 21 June, from 2pm in the afternoon until early evening (around 9pm), we would like to offer an informal forum for the exchange of ideas and the opportunity to meet other people and projects.

The idea of a Commons festival on midsummer came into being in December of last year. Early proposals came from Frauke H. from the “Workstation ideenwerkstatt berlin e. V.”, Silke H. (Commonsblog, Jena), and me.

The motto “Hackers meet Commons Backers” (“Hacker treffen Harker”) was chosen deliberately, since technophiles from diverse groups are explicitly invited. Members of both the Slow Tech Movement (somehow parallels the Slow Food Movement) and the Free Software Foundation Europe (FSFE)
will in part be coming; moreover, both Freifunk activists und Berliner Linux User Group (BeLUG) participants should feel welcome to spend an intensive day with us at the Allmendekontor in Tempelhof. Likewise, those who work for a sustainable and fair economy which respects human rights, such as friends of the Commons, Share Economy, and Solidarity Economy, as well as members of the “Akademie Solidarische Ökonomie”, and many more, are cordially invited.
The idea is to bring together all of the people who diligently work the entire year in “Leih- und Schenkläden” (lending and free shops), who help with food-sharing, who take part in community supported farming, and who manage urban gardens and green spaces; and also those who at the
outer edges of the fields one seldom sees because they are in hacker labs and spaces forging new ideas and digital concepts and coding tools — for all of us. Those who defend the internet, develop and produce software for the Commons which each of us may freely use.
We think that all of these groups belong together. Let us learn from one another and explore new cooperations.

As part of a small official component of the afternoon, after coffee and cookies at 6pm, every group will have about 5 minutes to present themselves. However, most of the time will be for hacking and raking, mapping and nibbling, as well as for personal discussions amongst each other.

There will be a little something to eat and drink, but we would like to request that you bring something for yourself as well. Take a look at the Dudle [2]. Don’t forget that the evenings can be quite cool at Tempelhofer Feld: weaters and pants will keep you warm. For those who have not been to the former airport, there are large roofed terraces so that one can also sit in the shade.
